Without realizing it, every day you are caught up in what is called “content marketing” or even called “content affiliate marketing”.

This content marketing strategy is used by any business, whether it is a small SME or a multinational, everyone has followed suit.

Whether the business sells physical products, do e-commerce, or a classic store, no one can do without.

Most importantly, content marketing has become the new eldorado of business on the web.

And for good reason, the acquisition of prospects, conversion, and retention are essentially based on the content strategy put in place.

So what is content marketing?

How and why can we no longer do without this revolutionary method?

Content marketing is a form of marketing focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online.  It is often used by businesses in order to achieve the following goals: attract attention and generate leads, expand their customer base, generate or increase online sales, increase brand awareness or credibility, and engage an online community of users.

Content marketing attracts new customers by creating and sharing valuable free content. It helps companies create sustainable brand loyalty, provides valuable information to consumers, and creates a willingness to purchase products from the company in the future.

A great innovation in marketing strategy.

Content marketing, therefore, consists of the creation of high added value content intended for your prospects and customers.

These contents can be educational, entertaining and evoke the problems encountered by your ideal client.

But above all, we can say that content marketing serves to establish its authority in a specific area. By communicating regularly in your field, you will be recognized as an expert. A reference person will be called upon to resolve a problem.

Content marketing is opposed to advertising marketing because it is not focused on sales and the business but more on the issues of your prospects and customers.

The advantages of content marketing:

The reason this strategy is so popular is that it has so many advantages:

  • Improve the visibility of its website (natural referencing)
  • Customers come to you
  • Bring confidence
  • Show your expertise
  • Better user experience
  • Better loyalty
  • Save on advertising
  • Transform its customers into ambassadors.

The disadvantages of content marketing

  • Very time consuming;
  • Requires mastering SEO (natural referencing);
  • Not easy to define the right strategy;
  • Requires a lot of regularity;
  • Mobilizes a lot of time;
  • Have knowledge in community management;
  • Master different tools;
  • Constant analysis of results.

What media should be used to distribute its content?

The media are very varied, especially with the existence of many social networks.

The choice of medium is not always obvious and we can quickly get caught up in a fad that ultimately does not suit us and is not necessarily suitable for our target customers either.

Among the supports we can find:

  • Blog posts
  • Newsletter
  • EBooks
  • Youtube videos
  • Podcast Audios
  • Social media posts
  • Webinars
  • Masterclass
  • Infographics
  • Contests and quizzes
  • Surveys
  • Templates

Producing content: a long-term strategy?

Unlike advertising which is much more ephemeral and with which a return is sought over a short period of time, content marketing is more based on a long-term strategy.

Producing content on a very regular basis can seem tedious, time-consuming, and time-consuming, but it’s a long-term strategy that can pay off for you years later.

Imagine that you publish articles on your blog for long months on a specific topic and that it is placed in the first position in the search results of Google.

Or that your Youtube videos are at the top of the list.

No doubt your one-year efforts will pay off for the next 10 years.

Content marketing: the solution to success on the web

Succeeding on the web is like finding a needle in a haystack, but if you perfectly embody the needle, it will be easily identifiable from the first second.

We can say today that the success of business on the web results mainly in the strategy of content marketing.

In a previous article on web entrepreneurship, I had mentioned the different activities that it was possible to exercise on the web and the different means of remuneration.

Content marketing works regardless of your business or business model.

If you have determined that your compensation will be through affiliate (earn commissions for recommending a product) then you will write blog posts and put your affiliate link inside.

Extraordinary, right?

The art of promoting a product while providing value and a solution to your audience. I admit it is a very subtle art!

Depending on your field of activity, you will be able to produce content that will highlight your skills and your knowledge.

For example, if you are freelance in the field of graphic design, you will be able to show the extent of your know-how to your clients by publishing some of your work on social networks or giving them advice to possibly make the choice of a relevant logo.

Customers who will be seduced by your graphic style and your personality will come knocking on your door directly.

We are no longer in a classic prospecting process where we had to take our phone and our courage in both hands to canvass our prospects.

Selling becomes more accessible even for the timidest and introverted.

Let’s face it, selling isn’t necessarily an innate skill and we don’t necessarily like this step.

For another example, if you are a sports coach, you can produce videos on a Youtube channel to share nutrition tips and little bits of a workout with you.

If you are a personal development coach, you can also share testimonials from your clients on your social networks in order to highlight your expertise and the transformation that has taken place among your coachees.

Your expertise will gradually take shape and above all, there will be a human dimension behind your brand, and authenticity that does not appear in classic advertisements.

You will have understood a little bit the principle of content marketing and how to apply it.

Content Marketing

Content marketing is a formidable strategy in the customer journey of your business on the web. By providing answers to their questions, your prospects and customers will feel understood and confident. It means that you are caring towards them and that you have understood the HARD problem (Painful, Urgent, Recognized) they are facing.

It allows you to no longer go looking for your customers but to naturally attract them to you. It is not only an acquisition strategy but also a great loyalty tool and even better, your customers will be fans and ambassadors of your products, of your brand.

Be careful, however, not to fall into the trap of creating content without a strategy that is just there to fuel your procrastination.

Remember, this is all about marketing and therefore the goal is to have more customers and therefore more sales.
