How to Make a Video Presentation

How to Make a Video Presentation?

Creating a video is a very good way to help market your product or service. It’s an easy task and shareable way to communicate your company’s core message.

Achieving a professional look is more about your technique than your tools, so you don’t need to drop a fortune on expensive equipment. You can just start doing your video on the computer.

It can also lead to a strong return on investment, in fact, product videos can increase the chance of a purchase by 144%.

1 – Plan Your Videos in Advance

Take time to plan your video, thoroughly before you start production. It will ensure the quality of your content.  A lack of planning can leave your viewers underwhelmed with your finished product.

Start by defining the purpose of the video.

  • What do you want to communicate?
  • What is your target audience?
  • How will you make your video speak to these viewers in particular?

Once you’ve defined your video’s content, write a script, and create a storyboard.  Revise your content until it’s as good as you can make

2 – Use plenty of Light

You will need light to make a good finished professional video.  Light is one of the top priorities during filming, if there is not enough light properly placed your video will look amateurish.  The sun is the best source for video if you don’t have enough light.  While morning and evening light is more flattering, the midday light coming from straight overhead can cash harsh shadows on your subjects

This is one thing about overhead lighting, it can cast unflattering shadows on your subject’s face. Windows are a good natural light source.  You can also use two large lamps to cast the type of light you want. Do your best to get your footage in the morning or evening, the light is softer.

Before setting up your light sources, you will need to consider what effect do you in your finished video.  You will need to decide if you want the subject’s face entirely lit up (soft or flat light) or do you want shadows (hard light). If you want a dramatic look, you can use lots of shadows but it can distract to have the intended effect like in a professional video.

3 – Clear the Shadow

Using no shadow or a little it creates a more open and straightforward vibe, which is usually better for business marketing videos.  If you want flat light for your video, balance two light sources on either side of the camera. It is better behind the camera or just a little in front of it.

But if you decide to make animated video and ad content, you don’t need a lot of equipment.  See the choice of tools to create video and animated video.

3 – Use a Clean Background.

Be careful with the background, a messy or distracting background looks very unprofessional.  It is also a good idea to shoot a video in a professional environment, the place where you actually work.  Use a solid-colored background, a white wall, or just take a large sheet and put it on your wall if the color is too dark.  Make sure that your subject stands several feet away from the backdrop to avoid casting shadows on it.

Careful while using the window, if you film with a window take the right angle and make sure with the light or spot it can give in the face of your subject.  Messy background or too much to look around your content will make your viewers focus on all-around and you will just lose their attention.

4 – Crisp, Clear Audio

Your audio quality is as important as the video itself.  Good quality content and audio are really more interesting to look at than crisp audio and pour content.

The first piece of equipment you should invest in is a good microphone. Get the best one you can afford, there are good ones under $100. and they last a long time.  But if you decide to make an animated video with music and writing content you don’t need a microphone.

To capture clear audio by putting your microphone as close to the subject, you talk as possible.  Be aware of any background noise that your microphone might be picking up.  Even the cheapest microphone can capture the dog waking in the room, careful with the win, cat miaow is all the small noises you can hear.

5 – Shaky Footage to Avoid

To Avoid shaky footage instead of holding the camera in your hand, it is better if you use a tripod or set your camera on a sturdy surface.  Viewers don’t like to look at a video that is shaky footage and even some people feel seasick while viewing the video. It really doesn’t look professional if you have shaky footage.

Once you’ve got your camera set up, it’s better not to move it unless you really have to. Moving around with the camera will constantly distract your viewers and you don’t have a professional look. Rather than moving the camera, make a pause of 3 seconds and it will be easy to cut this part before editing.

6 – Understand the Three Rules

I learn with my research that the Rule of Thirds is one of the most basic principles of film composition. Instead of placing your subject right in the middle of the shot, you should place your subject along with one of the lines of the grid.

You don’t have to follow the rule of thirds all the time. As you gain experience, you’ll get a better instinct for when to stick with the rule and when you can break it.

7 – Use your Phone the Right Way!

You can use your phone to capture professional video, the quality is just fine for most purposes.  Be careful with the shaky footage, use the back of your phone, if using the front of the camera the quality is not as good on phones. To get a larger device and get better footage, it is recommended to record horizontally.

Some phones have a feature that allows you to overlay a grid on your screen, it’s good to use it, it will help you keep your phone level and avoid tilted footage

8 – Choose a Good Video Editing Program

Good video editing software can help you turn your raw footage into something great.

A few things you should know when editing, using noise-canceling to clean up any background noise. Adjusting the lighting a little if need so, cutting out awkward pauses before adding background music, and transitions.

9 – Promote Your Videos.

It’s okay not to have a lot of views or audience interaction when you start out.  Everybody has to start somewhere, and some channels naturally have more mass appeal than others. As you create and publish more videos, your viewership should grow over time.

A big battle is getting people to watch your videos.  If you want to present yourself as a serious and professional video creator, you’ve got to promote your videos and grow your followers.

  2. Hi Lyne, I should do more with video. Especially after reading your tips, I think, why don’t I? Probably because of the time. 🙂 I have made a lot of videos in the past, so I know how much time it takes to make high quality ones. But like you explained, it’s good for traffic and it’s something different. After all, some people like to read, other people like to watch, so the audience would be bigger if I put up video as well.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

    • Hello Hannie, I don’t like to be in front of a video that part of the reason I do animated video. I know there are not as professional as if I was in and talking but yes it is good for your traffic and customer can stay longer on your site.
